13-02-2024

In recent years, an increasing number of people are faced with the need to insulate their homes. Moreover, it doesn’t matter whether it’s a house or an apartment - everyone wants to live in comfortable conditions with minimal investment in coolant. On the modern construction market you can find a huge amount of materials for such a task, and therefore choosing the best option is not difficult.

How to insulate an apartment with your own hands

In order to do this outside, the services of special services will be required. The internal insulation of an apartment can be done with your own hands, for a very reasonable price in UAH.

First of all, you should pay attention to the internal insulation of the walls. At the same time, you should think about insulation in advance, since in this case the humidity in the apartment may rise significantly. Initially, a frame screen is installed on the wall, to which insulation boards are attached. When choosing them, attention is paid to the following factors:

  • degree of flammability;
  • thermal conductivity index;
  • environmental friendliness;
  • no shrinkage;
  • vapor permeability.

During the process, the slabs must be covered with a protective film that does not allow moisture to pass through. Be sure to leave an air gap for air circulation. This can be done using a second light frame, which will serve as the basis for installing the wall covering.

For apartments on the ground floor, thermal insulation of floors will become relevant. Initially, they are leveled using cement screed or dry mixtures. To form the floor covering, supports in the form of logs made of metal or wood are used. This method is suitable for cases where the floors have large uneven surfaces. The space inside is filled with insulation. The surface is covered with floor coverings.

How to insulate a house inside with your own hands

Insulating the walls of a house from the inside is a job that can be done independently using new materials. When selecting them, it is advisable to take into account the basic properties:

  • Polystyrene foam is a budget option that is lightweight and has good thermal conductivity. The last point depends on the density of the sheet - its thickness can be different, varying in the range of 10-150 mm.
  • Mineral wool - the cost of this option is identical to the previous one. Craftsmen advise using the slab format, which is practical and slow shrinkage.
  • Expanded polystyrene - as a thermal insulator, it has proven itself better than polystyrene foam. Its relative disadvantage can be considered its higher price compared to this material
  • Izolon - instructions on how to insulate a house from the inside with your own hands using this material can be found on the Internet. Externally, it is similar to foam rubber, having an additional layer of foil. It has good sound and heat insulating properties and flexibility.

Polyurethane foam has also proven itself to be excellent for insulation work. Its characteristic features are environmental friendliness and resistance to mechanical stress. It is also not damaged by rodents, which is very important when living in a private home.

Other tips for insulating a room

In winter, many people use carpet on the floors for maximum heat retention. If your house or apartment has cast iron batteries, they can be painted dark colors. Thus, they will provide a higher level of heat transfer. You can attach foil to the wall behind the radiator, which will reflect heat into the room.

You also need to pay attention to the windows. A suitable option is fiberglass. A wooden window can be insulated with seals made of rubber, PVC materials, etc., or use sealant.

The same can be done with doors. To do this, you need to buy an overhead seal or brush, which is fixed to the doorway using a clamp, adhesive tape or screws.
