Why do you need insulation and finishing of the house facade?

26-08-2024

What is facade finishing and house insulation: why is it necessary

Houses can be insulated both from the inside and from the outside. Each option has its own characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. However, external insulation is considered more productive and rational, since such a design allows saving internal space. In addition, the wrong selection of materials for installation inside the premises can lead to some negative consequences for the inhabitants of the house.

The process of insulating a house itself involves two basic stages - installation of selected insulation materials and finishing of the facade. This achieves a number of advantages for those living in the house:

  • aesthetics of appearance;
  • preservation of useful space inside the premises;
  • increase in the service life of the entire building;
  • excellent sound insulation properties;
  • absence of moisture accumulation in the walls, due to which they will not collapse;
  • reliable protection from rain, snow, wind, frost, ultraviolet radiation.

There are many offers in terms of insulation materials on the modern construction market. And the methods of carrying out the work allow you to get the desired result literally a couple of hours after their start.

How to insulate a house: materials used

Experts call foamed polyurethane, mineral wool, and polystyrene foam the most commonly used materials. Traditional, time-tested materials such as expanded clay, sand, etc. are also used. All these insulation materials are characterized by high quality indicators, they are easy to install and do not cause any harm to human health.

  • Polystyrene foam

It is most often used in the form of slabs that need to be glued, but it can also be bulk - in the form of granules. The heat-saving properties of this material are achieved due to a special cellular structure with air. Foam plastic can only be used for external insulation. In addition, it is not suitable for "breathing" walls, since it does not allow air to pass through and retains moisture.

  • Polystyrene foam

Made from the same raw materials as the previous material, polystyrene foam requires a completely different technology. As a result, it has higher strength characteristics, is less flammable, and has low moisture absorption. This material can be installed in any weather.

  • Mineral wool

This insulation material has a fibrous structure and various density values. The material is quickly installed, has good thermal insulation properties, and retains heat well.

As for the exterior finish, many different materials are also used for facades. This can be decorative plaster, siding, porcelain stoneware, special panels for cladding, and brick. The finishing material is attached to the wall (brick, aerated concrete) only after the vapor barrier has been formed. In order for the insulation to be effective and serve as long as possible, it is advisable to entrust this work to experienced professionals.
