Where to start laying aerated concrete with your own hands
The work mainly uses cement or adhesive mixture for fixing blocks. Each has its own characteristics:
- Glue. It is purchased in specialized stores and diluted at the rate of 1 liter of water per 5 liters of dry mixture. The solution is thoroughly mixed immediately after connecting the components, after which it is advisable to wait about 10 minutes. It will be ready for use after repeated mixing, as a result of which it acquires the consistency of thick sour cream.
- Cement-sand mortar. The method of preparing this building mixture may differ, depending on the needs of the technology. For example, adding clay to the composition in a certain proportion allows you to avoid crumbling of the substance. The main advantage of this mixture is a more affordable price compared to adhesive compositions.

Initially, waterproofing should be laid on the foundation, then the installation locations of the block corners are marked. The marking is done using stakes at the corners of the foundation and a marking cord attached to them.
The first block should be placed in the highest corner of the base, transferring this mark to other corners with a water level. The first horizontal row is located on a solution of cement and sand, which makes it easy to remove all inaccuracies and irregularities. It is better not to use an adhesive composition for leveling - it is advisable to use it to glue the blocks.
The corner material is set using a level or level. The indicator of a possible deviation is calculated at 2-3 mm. After driving out the corners, you should take a break for 3-4 hours. During this time, the solution will set well, and the masonry will not float in the future.
Technology of laying aerated concrete: how to do it right
Rows of blocks are laid along a stretched cord. The material should not pull the cord, otherwise the line will shift. The adhesive or cement mortar is prepared before the work itself. The substance is applied with a special trowel, and the width of its working part should match the size of the cinder block. This way, you can get the required width of the masonry joint. Before fixing, the material must be cleaned of dirt and dust.
How to lay aerated concrete further?
The walls are driven out from the corners, laying the second and subsequent rows. Glue is applied to the end part of the blocks using a notched trowel. Pressing it tightly to the adjacent block, alignment is carried out with a rubber mallet. The algorithm of subsequent actions will be as follows:
- Each row is laid with a step of about 20 cm in relation to the previous one;
- During the work, openings for windows and doors are necessarily formed;
- Reinforcement with a metal mesh is carried out through every fourth row.
To create openings, lintels are used. For this, strong beams are placed on top of the base. Then, glued together tray blocks are placed on them. For reinforcement, a mesh with rods is used, the diameter of which is 3-4 mm, and the cell size is 5x5 cm.
Laying the reinforcement requires two grooves in the previous row. The holes are half filled with glue, then the reinforcement is placed in them.
