How to level a floor with plasterboard

01-06-2024

What are the advantages of Knauf Dual Floor?

All work on the installation of such floors is carried out using a dry method. At the same time, the room will maintain an optimal level of humidity throughout the entire time. Other positive aspects of using plasterboard when leveling the Knauf floor include the following:

  • the ability to carry out work on your own, without involving the services of specialists;
  • providing excellent heat and sound insulation properties;
  • the material is easy to process with a saw;
  • insignificant weight, which does not allow large loads on the logs and floor slabs;
  • affordable price compared to other types of materials.

It is also important that after laying the plasterboard, any floor covering can be laid on its surface. This process does not require any special preparatory work.

Leveling the floor using plasterboard: preparatory work
The dimensions of one sheet of material are 180 x 60 cm. You will need simple tools for the work. These include measuring instruments, a saw for cutting plasterboard, a rule, a construction stapler and a knife. Initially, you should install a deformation tape made of mineral wool or felt along the perimeter of the wall. Next, you need to prepare the base - such preparation involves two methods - on mineral wool and backfill. This ensures alignment in the range from 2 to 16 cm.

The essence of the preparatory work is as follows:

  • a vapor barrier film is laid on the floor, on top of which mineral wool is spread;
  • fixing the wool around the perimeter with felt tape;
  • scattering and evenly distributing a thin layer of backfill - in this case, professionals advise using perlite;
  • if the floors are large, it is advisable to divide them into small sections using a frame made of slats;
  • a metal or profile beacon must be inserted into the screed, which is adjusted with a rule.

If it is necessary to reduce the cost of materials, perlite can be used in a mixture with sand in a ratio of 3:1. If it is necessary to improve the thermal insulation properties, expanded clay can be used.

Features of laying plasterboard

After the preparatory work, the algorithm of actions will be as follows:

1. Cutting the slabs. Straight lines are cut with a knife, corner parts - with a special saw.

2. Laying the slabs on the backfill. You need to start the process from the door, carefully moving along the plywood paths. It is recommended to place the joints on the logs - this way you can avoid deformations.

3. Preparing the glue. The mixture should be diluted after the material is completely laid on the floors. The resulting liquid should be of medium consistency. It is important to calculate the correct amount, since the substance sets in just 30 minutes.

4. Applying the glue. A notched trowel with a tooth height of 5 mm is used in the work. You need to glue as quickly as possible, evenly distributing the composition over the surface.

5. Laying the second layer of slabs. The laying system provides for shifting this layer by half its size.

6. Fastening the layers of drywall. A stapler with a staple consumption of 20 pieces per square meter is used in the work.

7. Puttying the joints. This is done a day after installation. After complete drying, remove excess putty.

The next step is working with flooring materials. They must be laid on the plasterboard floor in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
